We all make mistakes when we speak. Many times, in the process of recording a script, I will misspeak. I used to correct these errors, but the fact remains that this is not true to real-world interpreting experiences at all! As an interpreter, you are required to interpret everything accurately and completely so, if a provider says, “Can you please take your socks and gloves off for me, please?” you should interpret that phrase exactly as it is said. Even if the provider is being redundant, it is not your responsibility to filter or censor the message. The same goes for utterances in the target language!
