KGH Interpretation Spanish-English Medical & Mental Health Interpretation

Presentations & Workshops

In an effort to provide continuing education to interpreters, healthcare professionals, community members, and LEPs with respect to the field of interpretation, I often participate in or facilitate presentations and workshops.

Types of Presentations & Workshops

I have given many different types of presentations and workshops in the past, including but not limited to:

  • Community presentations
  • Conference Panels
  • Guest lectures
  • Live/Recorded CEU Workshops
  • Podcasts

Areas of Expertise

These are areas in which I not only am knowledgeable, but am incredibly passionate! That being said, I am incredibly versatile and may be prepared to present on topics that are not included in this list, as it is not exhaustive.

  • Federal Legislation for Language Access
  • Gender Neutrality in Spanish
  • How to Work Effectively with Interpreters
  • Interpreter Mental Health and Self-Care
  • Language Access in Healthcare
  • LGBTQ+ Issues as they Relate to Interpreting
  • Mental/Behavioral Health Interpreting
  • Trauma-Informed Interpretation Services
  • Vaping Concepts and Terminology

These are all areas in which I am competent to present in both Spanish and English. I can always present in a hybrid fashion to facilitate understanding between both languages.

Invited Presentations & Workshops

I’ve been invited to present at a number of conferences and other events, but unfortunately due to COVID-19, most of them have been indefinitely postponed or cancelled. As these events take place, I will remove them from this list and include them in my past presentations and workshops. I am honored to have been invited!

  • Interpretación Médica en RVA y Consideraciones especiales para la Comunidad LGBTQ
March 2020. Guest lecture at Virginia Commonwealth University for students of medical interpretation.
  • Interpreting for the LGBTQ Population
April 2020. Invited to lead the LGBTQ discussion panel at the NCIHC’s Annual Membership Meeting in Portland, Oregon. I was unable to secure financial resources to attend the conference and AMM 2020 was cancelled due to COVID-19 global pandemic.
