KGH Interpretation Newsletter

K

An anything-but-ordinary mailing list for extraordinary linguists!

I’ve managed and participated in many online communities for interpreters & translators, but always felt like something was missing. Not everyone has an account on every platform, meaning some folks just end up getting left out. Those of us who are tapped in to the latest networks are left to sort through cluttered feeds, only occasionally lucky enough to find a hidden gem. So, I thought to myself:

What if there were a way to pass along relevant, targeted
information, to the exact people who want it?

I spent months researching options and came up with a pretty neat solution: the KGH Interpretation mailing list. You provide as much or as little information as you’d like, and every time I send out a newsletter, it uses a 𝐹𝒶𝓃𝒸𝓎 algorithm I designed to determine who to send it to based on their profile details. Pretty neat, huh? In addition, your information will never be shared with a third party without your express permission.

Let’s start with some basic info…

The first two fields are the only required fields. The rest of the fields in this form are entirely optional, but highly encouraged.

Enter your non-English languages (in English) separated by commas. For instance: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese

Providing your phone number is entirely optional, but if you do provide it, choose to receive job-related emails and, let’s say, I catch wind of a stat interpreting assignment in your area in your language pair, I may reach out to you by texting or calling you.

Where are you located?

I’ll only use this information to send you content relevant to where you are located. For instance: a webinar about how interpreters outside of the US can leverage higher rates. I only ask for your country and U.S. state.

What do you do?

I’ll only use this information to send you content relevant to your employment status (or student status!) and role. For instance: a free event for students of interpretation/translation. If something is specific to your role, such as a new book about remote interpretation, I’m going to only send it to VRI and OPI interpreters.

If you’re currently working as an interpreter or translator, select all the employment statuses that apply to you. There’s no need to select anything if you’re a student and you’re not working.

If you’re currently providing language services in some capacity, please select all the roles that apply to you. *LSP stands for “language service provider.” This can be an agency, company, or even a language services department within a larger organization.

What are you interested in?

This is the meat of the mailing list, so to speak. What would you like to hear about? More interests can and will be added in the future. Please note that if you don’t select any options, you’ll only receive e-mail updates about the mailing list itself (e.g. new interests).
